Background
Paul Fisher, Felix Otieno Ogola and Frederick Ochieng Atieno first met in Kenya at the beginning of May 2025. About 4 months previously Paul and Frederick had established contact via social media. Frederick and Felix are neighbours. Paul lives in France.
Whilst Frederick and Felix have access to family lands and farming expertise, they also have a need to feed themselves and their families. Furthermore, whilst living in a close local community there is a collective imperative to assist others with food and work. The key roadblock to developing this initiative is start up working capital. Paul has already begun to provide this essential element to enable KangPermFarm to become self sustaining and durable.
Climate change, pollution and a rising population along with poor agricultural outputs, poverty and low skill levels has established a cycle of unemployment, undernourishment and social breakdown. This has led to the idea of a permaculture project.
Adopting the principle of “Think global, act local”, has underpinned the ethos of KangPermFarm.

Animals
The first half of 2025 has seen the establishment of KANGPERMFARM; the ploughing and fencing of land, the purchase of tools, the set up of a bank account, the husbanding of crops already planted, investment in seeds, the construction of a compost and many small adjustments to the use of the land.
More land has been added to the original fields.
A major investment in 2 acres of sugar cane has been a startling success which involved help from the community and assistance from sugar kane expertise locally.
The compost has had to be expanded as the supply of vegetable and animal waste has grown as the farm has expanded. This has had a cummulative effect on the fertility of the soil and the processing of organic waste.
The farm is completely organic; no chemicals are used except for the veteranary treatments for the animals; de-worming and antibiotics!
Already healthy crops of maize have ensured a sustained food supply for the community.
The remainder of 2025 will see a major investment in dairy cattle. Already the infrastructure to accommodate two dairy cattle is in place along with the substantial investement in ? grass to maintain a high quality diet for these highli productive beasts.
Furthermore, an investment in Irish Potatoes is envisaged in the last quarter of 2025. Top quality seed potatoes will ensure a blight free crop.
